Musical Director

Over the years Jaco Bezuidenhout handled the musical direction of many a show at the local Sand du Plessis theatre and other smaller theatres. Shows included a Celine Dion Tribute show, Hits Of The Movies, and recently two successful Passion musicals, Kruiskoning and Pilatus, `n kruis in die pad. The Musical Director is responsible for arranging the music, creating incidental music, directing the band and ultimately directing and training the vocalists for the duration of the production. Pilatus, for instance, had a two-month rehearsal period and 3 consecutive shows opening tickets to some 2600 seats. A musical director is crucial to bring the musical aspect of a stage production to life and smooth over gaps in a show that cannot be filled by conventional directing.

Producer

As vocal or music producer, Jaco Bezuidenhout often need to work in other studios and with other musicians to realise the goals of a client. This means recording on location or at other studios, or sometimes even getting behind the sound desk of a production. All these capabilities ensure that a high quality production will be achieved. There is no need to worry that a project might be to big for the studio. Jaco regularly play piano as well in a band for certain types of productions and like to work hands-on as part of the session musicians of a show or production. Have a look at our Blog on more info about the differences between a  recording engineer and producer.

Lighting Designer

Firstly, a Lighting Designer is vastly different from a lighting engineer. A lighting engineer is responsible for rigging, programming and focusing lighting fixtures. A Lighting Designer is part of the creative process of production. He has to design the look and feel of a show that would otherwise just be audio on a blank canvas. Well-produced lighting enhances the emotion and feel of music and drama in a production. Jaco Bezuidenhout has been involved in some big concerts as Lighting Designer, bringing a musical feel and rhythm that normal programmed lighting fixtures can never achieve. Any idea on any scale is possible. The only limits to creativity is usually budget. Nevertheless, let Jaco Bezuidenhout design your production lighting and experience the enhanced quality of a production where music, lights and performers all operate in harmony.
